Kallianpur Deanery Catholic Sabha Convention and Silver Jubilee of Pethri unit held

Udupi: Catholic Sabha Udupi Pradesh ®, Kallianpur Deanery Convention, Catholic Sabha Pethri Unit Silver Jubilee and Kallianpur Deanery Laity Commission get-together held at St. Peter’s Church premises, Pethri near here on Sunday, 21 January, 2018.

 

Steevan Prakash Lewis, President of Catholic Sabha Kallianpur Deanery presided over the programme which Rev Fr. Ferdinand Gonsalves, Spiritual Director of Catholic Sabha Udupi Pradesh, Very Rev Fr. Stany B. Lobo, Spiritual Director of Catholic Sabha Kallianpur Deanery, Rev Fr. Joseph Machado, Director, Laity Commission, Kallianpur Deanery and Spiritual Director of Pethri Unit, Valerian R. Fernandes President, Catholic Sabha Udupi Pradesh, Udupi, Prof. Steevan Quadros Permude, Resource Person and Professor at Government College, Puttur, Jacintha Colaco General Secretary, Catholic Sabha Udupi Pradesh, Harish Shetty, President, Grama Panchayat, Cherkadi, Santhosh Cornelio Convener Deanery Convention, Janeview D’Souza Secretary, CS Kallianpur Deanery, Suja D’Souza President Pethri Unit, Louis Fernandes Treasurer, Kallianpur Deanery, Vincent D’Almeida Vice President of Pethri Church pastoral council and Prema D’Almeida secretary  were present on the dais.

 

The programme began with invocation. Santhosh Cornelio welcomed the gatherings. Very Rev Fr. Stany B. Lobo and other guests on the dais inaugurated the programme with lighting the lamp. Janeview D’Souza placed the annual report of Kallianpur deanery.

 

In his inaugural address Very Rev Fr. Stany B. Lobo appreciated the Pethri Catholic Sabha unit for their successful activities even though small church with less people. He appreciated the Catholic Sabha organization working with successful fundamental objectives. The Catholic Sabha is the platform for the laity needs. The fundamental objective of the Catholic Sabha is to take part in politics.

 

The annual report of the Pethri unit placed during the occasion. In his address, Rev Fr. Ferdinand Gonsalves also praised the Pethri unit for their various activities and it has been the role model for the other units of the Catholic Sabha. The contribution of the Kallianpur Deanery for the Catholic Sabha in diocese level has been great. The Catholic Sabha members should united with other communities also and should bring the communal harmony.

Prof. Steevan Quadros Permude, resource person said that we the Christians should bring the Kingdom Of God through truth and justice. We should understand our role on Kingdom of God. Where there is dark, we should bring light with our various services and contribution to our society.

 

15 retired army, naval and air force personnel were felicitated during the occasion from the Kallinapur Deanery. Meanwhile three retired police personnel also felicitated. Three top writers of the Kallianpur deanery also felicitated and three achievers also felicitated during the occasion.

 

Prizes were distributed to winners of elocution competitions. Top benefit lucky coupons sellers were felicitated. Kolalgiri Unit was felicitated with one of the Best Unit of the Kallianpur Deanery. Former Presidents, officials of the Kallianpur deanery and others felicitated.

 

Valerian Fernandes, Catholic Sabha Central Committee in his address appreciated the Kallianpur Deanery for its various contribution for the society and the central committee.

 

Fr. Jospeh Machado spoke during the occasion. Harish Shetty President of Cherkadi Grama Panchayat appreciated the catholic community for their contribution to the society and called to help for the students. Steevan Prakash D’souza, Suja D’Souza, Santhosh Cornelio and others were felicitated for their contribution to the Catholic Sabha.

 

Suja D’Souza proposed vote of thanks. Edward Larsen D’Souza Pethri unit secretary and Merlyn D’Souza compered the programme.

 

At the end of the programme, Pramod Madhwaraj Minister of Fisheries, Sports and Youth Empowerment visited and spoke during the occasion.
