Qatar: ICC presents 20th Annual Dance Festival to promote Indian dance forms

Doha/Qatar, 20 Jan 2018: The Indian Cultural Centre (ICC) presented their Annual Dance Festival for the classical and cinematic dance forms at Birla Public School auditorium, here, on Friday, January 19.

 

The chief guest, Rajesh Kamble, counsellor at Indian Embassy - Qatar and coordinating officer of ICC inaugurated the function. In his message, he lauded the efforts of ICC in up keeping and disseminating the social and cultural traditions among the Indian community in Qatar.

 

ICC president Milan Arun welcomed the gathering, while general secretary conducted the proceedings. Anjan Kumar Ganguly, head of in-house activities proposed vote of thanks, and Anupama Sangi Shetty compered the programme.

 

 

A prominent Qatari artist and consultant at Girls Creativity Arts Centre Hanadi Al Darwish was guest of honour. She applauded the efforts of ICC for spreading the traditional art form among the community in Qatar. Jabor Ali Saleh from Qatar University was felicitated during the function. ICC advisory council chairman Hassan Chougule also addressed the gathering.

 

The festival was also attended by dignitaries ICBF president Davis Edukulathur, IBPC head of finance Sujatha Zinzu Wadia. Dignitaries were received by ICC vice president A P Manikantan, joint secretary Shriraja Viajyan, head of counsellor services K S Prasad, head of finance Girish Jain and head of sports advocate Jaffar Khan.

 

Bharathanatyam and Kuchipudi were performed in various forms. A total of 65 students of ICC performed 15 dances which enthralled the audience throughout the programme. The programme was attended by more than 500 people. The dances were choreographed by the ICC classical dance teachers Metilda Solomon for the Indian classical dance items and cinematic dance items were choreographed by Bhavan Naik. The certificates for all students were also presented during the programme by ICC president Milan Arun and dignitaries.

 

The sponsors of the programme were Methodic Engineers, Grab National Enterprises, Gulf Incon and Technical Supplies Co WLL.

 

The program was coordinated by Anjan Kumar Ganguly and managing Committee member K S Prasad.
