Qatar: Black Cat Markya wins 1st All Qatar Kabaddi Tourney, Tulu Koota runner up

Doha/Qatar, 25 Dec 2017: A team of young like-minded enthusiast for kabaddi started playing for hobby, over a period of 1 year kabaddi lovers grew more and more, seeing the budding players and liking towards kabaddi, Qatar Indian Friends hosted 1st All Qatar Kabaddi Fest - 2017 to create a platform to rejuvenate the sportsmanship especially for the average working class teams.
First mega Kabaddi Day & Night Tournament was organized at the Old Ideal Indian School Ground, Doha on Friday, December 22 from 07.00am to 9.30pm. This tournament gave a platform for 16 expatiates Kabaddi teams and players are mainly from average working class people. At least 500 expatriates Kabaddi lovers witnessed this day long tournament, Black Cat Merkya were the champions of the maiden tournament and ATS Tulu Koota were runner up.
It was inaugurated by Mahesh Gowda, general secretary, Indian Community Benevolent Forum and Anil Boloor, former sports secretary, Karnataka Sangha Qatar.
Mahesh Gowda said, ‘This is a very good initiative which is in line with Qatar’s vision towards sports, also this platform gives the expatriates for average working class people to take part in the tournament.’
During closing ceremony in the evening, chief guest of the event was Abdulla Ibrahim A M Al Sada, General Authority of Customs, guest of honor was Milan Arun - president – Indian Cultural Center (ICC), Ranjith Reddy - Group CEO, MBR Technologies. Other VIP guests were Muhamed Awad Sanad Al Shammary - MOI, Rashid Abdulhadi J J Al-Marri - HOD Hamad Hospital, Subramanaya Hebbagelu - vice president, Karnataka Sangha Qatar.
Speaking on the occasion, Abdulla Ibrahim A M Al Sada said, ‘I was very happy to see Kabaddi sport and its growth in Qatar, he congratulated the organizing committee for this mega show.
During this event a very active a prominent community worker Subramanaya Hebbagelu felicitated for his contribution towards social service since last 10 years in Qatar. Also a very hard core Kabaddi enthusiast Mansoor was felicitated for his contribution towards Kabaadi for more than 10 years in Qatar.
