Udupi:Christmas Celebrated with Devotion and Joy at St. Lawrence Church, Moodubelle

Udupi/M’Belle, 24 Dec 2017: Devotion and joy marked the celebration of Christmas all over the world. The birth of Jesus popularly known as ‘Christmas’ has been one of the important festivals in the Catholic Church. Along with the spiritual preparation through the Advent, people prepare celebration of Christmas by cleaning their houses and decorating it with coloured lights and stars, new dresses, preparation of sweets, sharing the joy of Christmas by distributing sweets to neighbours, especially to non-Christian brothers and sisters and putting up Cribs  in their  homes.

 

The Christmas celebration in St. Lawrence Church, Moodubelle commenced at 6.30 pm on Sunday, 24 December 2017 with Carol singing by the choir ably trained by Fr. Clement Mascarenhas, Parish Priest of the church. 

 

 

The Solemn Christmas Mass was concelebrated by Fr. Clement Mascarenahs as the chief celebrant. 

 

The homily was preached by Fr. Frolin Fernandes (OFM Cap) with emphasis on the menaing and significance of Christmas in our lives. 

 

Soon after the Solemn Feast Mass, Fr. Clement Mascarenhas on behalf of himself, Fr. Lawrence Cutinha and other priests conveyed the greetings of Christmas to all the parishioners.

 

People paid respect to  the statue of Baby Jesus with devotion following the end of the Mass.

 

Soon after the Mass, people were seen exchanging Christmas greetings with family members, friends and other parishioners. 

 

The ICYM unit of Moodubelle had organized the auction of a beautiful cake through American style of auctioning. They had also arranged the housie game to entertain the parishioners. 

 

The ICYM and YCS  members had assembled a beautiful Crib in the premises of the church with a lot of planning and preparation. 

 

Parishioners, especially the women attended the Christmas Celebratory Mass with finest of their dresses or sarees thus manifesting their joy and happiness at the Christmas celebration.
