Beltangady, 17 Nov 2017: The eighty-fifth All Religious Convention was held as part of Lakshadeepotsav at Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala, here, on Thursday, November 16.
Swami Vidyaprasanna of Subramanya mutt inaugurated the Convention, here on Thursday.
Speaking on the occasion, Swami Vidyaprasanna said, ‘Religiousness is necessary for the betterment of society. One cannot live shunning religion because it’s like the bond of a leave with the tree. If one follows religion that will sustain him/her. Healthy society will rein with religiousness,’ he said.
Akbar Ali of Udupi, while speaking on Islam and communal harmony said, ‘The all religious convention that is being held every year at Dharmasthala is an example for the nation. It aims at strengthening community bond. The pelting stones on religious worship centers, mosques, churches will only cause material damage, but none can take away the faith that is embodied. Indians are peace loving people and will have to embrace communal harmony in this regard. Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala has set an example,’ he said.
Fr Antonyraj Swamy from Bengaluru speaking on Christianity called on the people to lead peaceful life, shunning caste, creed and faith.
Srishakti Amma of Narayani Peetam, Vellore, in her presidential address said, ‘The faith in God is essence of all religions. Trusting God in all upheavals, loving fellowmen leads to communal harmony.
Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari Veerendra Heggade in his preliminary address said, ‘All religions exemplify the welfare of mankind and global peace.’
Dharmasthala gram panchayat president Chandan Kamat proposed vote of thanks. SDM College, head of department of Kannada B P Sampat Kumar and Professor B A Kumar Hegde compered the programme.
