Udupi: Lions Club Shirva successfully organizes Fun Filled “Kesaru Gadde Sports“

Shirva, 14 Nov 2017: A fun filled whole day Paddy Field (Kesaru Gadde) sports was successfully organized by Lions Club of Shirva on Sunday 12th November 2017.  The whole day event was thoroughly enjoyed by young and old in the paddy field participating in various sports events.

 

Mr. Vinay Sorake, MLA Kaup & Former Minister inaugurated the event attended by guests of honour on dais namely Mr. Wilson Rodrigues (Member Udupi Jilla Panchayat), Ms. Geeta Wagle (Member, Udupi Taluke Panchayat, Mr. Ratan Shetty (Member Shirva Grama Panchayat), Ms. Leena Machado (Secretary, Parish Council, Shirva Church), Mr. Hassan Ibrahim (HR Residency) and Mr. Julian Rodrigues (President Lions Club Shirva)

 

Ln Julian Rodrigues welcomed the gathering and thanked Mr. Sorake for his presence well in time and offered him flower bouquets.  All the guests on dais were also felicitated with flowers.

 

 

On the occasion two prominent personalities and Rajyostava Award winners for art and culture namely Mr. Merwin Aranha  (Actor Tulu Movies and Artist) and Sandeep Shetty Manibettu (Actor Tulu Comedy (Bale Telupule) were honoured.  They were felicitated by Mr. Vinay Sorake with traditional shawl and by other honorary guests on dais with flower garlands and fruit baskets.

 

Speaking on the occasion Chief Guest of the day Mr. Sorake said that Lions Club of Shirva organizes Kesaru Gadde games since last six years.  Shirva is a very developed town and having several banks and other businesses is really notable and praise worthy.  Even in this situation holding village traditional sports is appreciable and applauded. Lions Club is an International Charitable Organization.  However, Lions today to bring awareness of our culture, tradition and customs Lions is encouraging our children and younger generation organizing these traditional paddy field sports.  Earlier our ancestors worked in the field and had no sickness whatsoever.  That’s why Lions is initiating these games to encourage our younger generation.. To involve youth in building of the Nation the youth need to be attracted to help and sports is the best way for our youth to attract our youth.

 

On this auspicious occasion Mr. Wilson Rodrigues (Udupi Jilla Panchayat Member) was honoured Ln. Julian Rodrigues with traditional shawl and other honorary guests on dais with flower garland and fruit basket.

 

At about 11am the paddy field games began with inauguration of Volley ball event by Mr. Ratan Shetty and Throw Ball by Ms. Ida Gibba (Member Udupi Jilla Panchayat)

 

The young and old enjoyed the fun filled whole day’s sports which included various races for kids, Throw-ball, Volleyball, Musical Chairs, Tug-of-war etc. Etc.

 

 

The prize distribution ceremony was held on completion of all the games at 5pm.  President Ln. Julian Rodrigues welcome the guests on dais for the prize distribution ceremony namely Ms. Shaila Gomes (Shine Beauty Parlour Shirva), Ms. Leena Machado (Secretary, Parish Council), Mr. Hassan Ibrahim, Mr. Wilson Rodrigues.

 

All the winners were given away with prizes and trophies.

 

Mr. David D’Souza (President, Mudarangadi Gram Panchayat) sponsors the meals and snacks for all the participants of the day.
