Beltangady, 25 Feb 2017: The human body without soul is like a corpse. One experiences the presence of Lord Shiva, when worshiped with total dedication, fasting and penance. The temple devoted to Lord Shiva beckons the devotees to be blessed with spiritual and mental bliss, said D Veerendra Heggade, Dharmadhikari of Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala.

Heggade was speaking after inaugurating Shivratri puja celebrations at Dharmasthala, here on Friday, February 24 night.

Meanwhile, he urged the devotees to introspect on their lives especially during Shivratri to cleanse their minds with evil thoughts and maintain personal hygiene, in order to be blessed by Lord Shiva.

Hemavati V Heggade, D Surendra Kumar, Supriya Harshendra Kumar, D Shreyas Kumar and Nischal Kumar were present at the dais.

Hundreds of thousands of devotees arrived at Dharmasthala, here from across Karnataka, many walking long distances to take part in Shivratri celebrations.
