Mumbai: Mangaloreans Winifred & Jagdish win BMC elections from Andheri (E)

Mumbai, 23 Feb 2017: Mangaloreans Winifred Baptist D’Souza who contested the civic polls of BMC from ward number 83, Parsiwada, Sahar Road, Chakala, Andheri (East), here and Jagdish Kutti Amin (Anna), who contested from ward number 82, Marol Pipeline, Andheri (East) on Congress ticket were elected during the elections held on Tuesday, February 21.

Winifred hails from Loretto, in Bantwal taluk of Dakshina Kannada district. She won with a margin of 566 votes against Shiv Sena party candidate Nidhi Sawant. Ten candidates including NCP advocate Sujata D Atavale, BJP Poornima Mane, MNS, Akhila Bharatiya Sene and 4 independents contested from the same ward.
Jagdish Amin is hailing from Nitte, Karkala taluk. He won with a margin of 35 votes against BJP candidate Santosh Kelkar. Ten candidates including Shiv Sena, NCP, MNS, Peoples Republican Party of India, Bahujan Mukti Party, Indian Community Party (M) and 7 independents contested the elections.
