Belman: Daily prayers will improve moral values in children – Fr. Lawrence

Belman, 20 March 2011: “Our ancestors built Vidhyalayas near the temples. Schools were built near the Churches. When the students learn their studies along with the prayers to the Almighty, their moral values will improve and they become educated with good culture and quality” said Rev. Fr. Lawrence D’Souza, Parish Priest of St. Joseph’s Church, Belaman.
Rev. Fr. Lawrence D’Souza was speaking on his presidential address during the St. Lawrence Higher Primer School feast celebration function. He said “St. Joseph was born two thousand years ago, as a family person he lived with his honesty, faithfulness, nobleness and was blessed by the Lord. Today his birthday is celebrated whole over the world”.
On this occasion the newly elected Karkala Taluk Panchayath Member Xavier Demello who is also the President of School Old Students Association and Gregory Menezes - Vice President of Church Pastoral Council and also the Hon. President of School Old Students Association, were honoured by the School.
Entrepreneur Rocky D’Silva from Bangalore was the Chief Guest. Senior Teacher Sevrine Mendonsa and Sr. Gracy – Superior of Convent were also present on the dais. Teacher B. Pundalika Marathe gave an introductory speech on Xavier Demello and Gregory Menezes and congratulated them.
Headmistress of the School Sr. Monica welcomed the gathering. Teacher Vincent Pinto compeered the program. Sr. Daisy proposed vote of thanks. Lilly D’Souza, Juliana Moras, Lavina Pinto and Hashendrakumar Jain were also present on the occasion. Children presented cultural programs which entertained all the audience.
