Udupi: Kamath Motors releases Bajaj V15 manufactured out of steel from INS Vikrant

Udupi, 24 March 2016: Kamath Motors, released Bajaj V15(Invincible), the super motor bike that is manufactured out of the steel of INS Vikrant, the first Indian Aircraft Carrier that  had served the Indian Navy for three decades and had participated actively in three major wars that India had fought against her enemies. The function to release Bajaj V15 and to hand over keys to first eight customers who had booked this bike was held on 23 March 2016 at 5 p.m in the auditorium of Kamath Motors. Commodore Jerome Castelino (VSM) who had served onboard INS Vikrant in 1961-1962 soon after its commission was the chief guest of the function. Fabian Koyan, Bajaj Auto Area Manager was the guest of honour.

 

Following the welcome address and  brief introduction of the chief guest Commodore Jerome Castelino by K. Vignesh Kamath, MD of Kamath Motors, Authorized Dealer for Bajaj Auto Limited, Commodore Jerome Castelino narrated his experience as a naval officer in general and his service onboard INS Vikrant in particular. Further he said that soon after INS Vikrant was decommissioned it would have been proper for the central government or any of the state governments to maintain and preserve the aircraft carrier for its meritorious service. However, as these governments showed no interest, the aircraft carrier was sent to the scrap yard. It was Raju Bajaj who realised the historical importance of INS Vikrant and purchased the steel of the ship and used it to manufacture Bajaj V15. Thus, a piece of INS Vikrant in the form of fuel tank is being used to preserve the memory of INS Vikrant and those who have booked this two wheeler would be lucky to be part of the history of INS Vikrant. He made an appeal to the buyers of Bajaj V15 not to part with the vehicle and preserve it for the future generations in their respective families.

 

 

As the Bajaj V15(Invincible) was brought to the stage, Commodore Jerome Castelino declared it to be inaugurated and distributed keys to the first eight  of many of those who had already booked the two wheeler.

 

According to K. Vignesh Kamath, the Bajaj V15 is a completely new motorcycle - new design, new chassis (a double down tube frame), and a completely new engine. Where it differs from any of the current 150cc engines from the Bajaj stable is that this one has been built keeping in mind the strong personality of the bike.

 

In brief, it is said that Bajaj V15 have an engine which will give a sense of a solid, stable ride, than outright lightning fast performance and the inherent sporty nature that we have come to identify Bajaj bikes with. In a way, it’s a step away from the norm, but it’s a conscious effort, that to make a commuter feel strong, stable and make a statement - much like a strong, silent personality.
