Udupi: Feast of Our Lady of Vailenkani celebrated at Stella Maris Church, Kalmady

Udupi, 16 Aug 2015: The Feast of Our Lady of Vailenkani at Stella Maris Church, Kalmady near here held with tremendous devotion and fervor on Saturday, 15th August, 2015. The Solemn High festive mass after nine days of novena services held with chief celebrant His Lordship Most Rev Dr. Gerald Isaac Lobo Bishop of Udupi Diocese along with Very Rev Fr. Valerian Mendonca, Chancellor of Diocese, Very Rev Fr. Fredrick Mascarenhas Dean of Udupi Deanery and around 25 priests.

 

During in his homily Bishop said that on 1950 Pope XII defined the dogma of the Assumption of Mother Mary. Thus the Pope Solemnly proclaimed that the belief whereby the Blessed Virgin Mary at the close of her earthly life, was taken up, body and soul, into the glory of heaven, definitively forms part of the deposit of Faith. The Immaculate Mother of God, the ever virgin Mary, having completed the course of her earthly life, was assumed body and Soul into heaven.

 

He further said that Assumption of the Virgin Mary has gift of God to her. The Assumption of Mother Mary and Independence of India would the planning of the Lord. The Independence of Mother Mary will be the Independence of us. When there is terror, untruth, disharmony, atrocity then we cannot say the Independence. The real brotherhood could be real Independence.

 

After the end of the mass the architect of Kalmady church and parish Priest Rev Fr. Alban D’Souza placed important announcements and gave gratitude to the devotees who supported the success of celebration of the feast. During the occasion the CD in connected with the Our Lady of Vailenkani was released by the Bishop which written and prepared by Rev Fr. Valerian Mendonca and Rev Fr. Clement Mascarenhas.

 


After the mass brief stage programme held and Vinay Kumar Sorake Minister of Urban Development and Minister in charge, Pramod Madwaraj local MLA were present. Vinay Kumar released the church magazine “Darya Sukr” during the occasion. He said after the release of the magazine that it would be his destiny to release the important magazine and he underlined the words of Jesus. He gave promise to help the church through the government from the Minority Aid Fund.

 

Pramod Madwaraj released the Book “Zevit” under the patronage of the commission of Family Welfare headed by Leslie Aroza. Pramod Madwaraj said since his father the relation and link between his family and the church of Kalmady still exists. In the field of education and health the contribution of Christian Missionaries has been tremendous. We can say that Udupi district top in these fields who contributed by Christians in the country as a whole.

 

Bishop also gave his message of feast and blessed the meal. More than eight thousand devotees participated during the celebrations of the Feast of Our Lady Of Vailenkani and served lunch to all the participants.
