Doha: MCC’s Annual Picnic Trip to Al Shamal Gardens – Ruwais

Doha, 20 November 2010: Mangalore Cricket Club (MCC) Qatar, organized a day out to Al Shamal Gardens, Ruwais on the first day of Eid Al Adha, Tuesday, November 16, 2010,.  Al Ruwais is located 110 km from the capital city Doha and is situated on the northern tip of the peninsula. Around one hundred fifty members of the club set out in a convoy of two buses and a few cars from Doha at about 7:45 a.m. The long drive to Al Ruwais was made shorter as the passengers in the buses entertained themselves with songs, jokes and laughter.

 

Sumptuous breakfast of ‘Sannas’ (special Mangalorean idlis), with sambhar was served on reaching the destination. Vice President Sunil D’Silva welcomed the gathering. Ronald Rodrigues, Membership Secretary conducted the Icebreaker to introduce every family at the beginning itself to each other which made it easy to know all the members and to get acquainted with the new members,  All new members were extended a warm welcome. by Riana Pinto. This was followed by fun games where Tiny tots and toddlers played picking the balls, passing the cap while the other children played the musical arms. While the ladies played the orange game to find the highest no, of seeds, men played the dog and the bone game and the couple played the apple game.

 

 

Group games like tug of war and dumb charades were played. Bingo with attractive prizes was conducted by Rita Andrade. Prizes for the games and Bingo were given away by Jessy Mendonca , and Cyril D’Souza.

 

There was a medley of old Konkani songs sung by talented singers of the club like Rupert Lobo who was accompanied  by Remy D”Souza on guitar. The group too joined them and audience to their delight got a chance to listen to the lovely old numbers.

 

Later children and adults went for a dip in the water and enjoyed swimming in the cool waters and the pleasant weather.

 

Mangalore Cricket Club takes the opportunity to thank all the members and volunteers who contributed towards the success of the annual picnic.
