Moodubelle: Tussle between two groups at Moodubelle Pete

Moodubelle, 25 October 2010: A tussle broke out between two groups on Sunday night at 09.30 pm near Moodubelle Pete, belonging to Shirva Police Station limits. Udupi Jilla Panchayath Member and Belle BJP Committee President were assaulted. The tussle was between the BJP supporters and due to this, the situation was tense for a while.

 

As the fight broke out between the two groups at night, people gathered and the situation became tense. As Police came into the scene and showed the taste of lathi to the gathered people, who then dispersed and the situation returned to normal.

 

The situation had become tense on Sunday night at 09.30 pm as Belle Panchayath Member, BJP Committee President Rajendra Shetty, 42 years (son of Kutty Shetty) and Udupi Jilla Panchayath Member Jerald Fernandes were assaulted by a group of 9 people.

 

As per the complaint given by Rajendra Shetty at Shirva Ploice Station, Bailur Grama Panchayath President Ramesh Shetty, his brother Dinesh Shetty and also other 7 persons came in Maruthi Omni car and manually assaulted him, used abusive words and given life threat. At the same time they snatched from Rajendra Shetty a gold chain of four pavan from his neck, gold bracelet of 4 pavan, mobile phone and Rs. 7,000 cash. The case has been registered at Shirva Police Station and the investigation is ongoing.

 

Related to the same incident, Udupi Jilla Panchayath Member Jerald Fernandes who went to stop the assault on Rajendra Shetty, was also assaulted by the same group. When Jerald was standing near his office the same group assaulted him. Jerald has given a separate complaint against Bailur Dinesh Shetty, Ramesh Shetty and also other 7 persons. As per the complaint given by Jerald Fernandes, this group came in Maruthi Omni car, manually assaulted him, used abusive words and given life threat. The case has been registered at Shirva Police Station and the investigation is ongoing.
