This is a reflection of cheap mentality of the business concerns in India. The big business tycoons dont bother at all for the players careers and the pride of the nation rather they are interested in feathering their nest by using our precious sporting talents as baits. Cricketers are being sold and exploited like business commodities! Thus they are not only harming cricketers long career but also putting countrys pride at stake.

An option that Shirva people have is to hire a JCB and move the garbage inside the Gram Panchayat office. May be the officials will take immediate action of arresting them!

Would the leaders of Alevoor Gram or Belle, take their case with Karnataka Blind Welfare Association located at S C Road, Nehru Nagar, Seshadripuram, Bangalore, Karnataka, phone S C Road, Nehru Nagar, Seshadripuram, Bangalore, Karnataka, S C Road, Nehru Nagar, Seshadripuram, Bangalore, Karnataka, 91-80-23369703, 65609053? Congratulations Team India on clinching the Asia Cup. The senior players did not play in the recent series in Zimbabwe and instead took enough rest, and may be that is the reason they performed to their potential. Too much cricket without rest brings down players performance which need to be addressed by the BCCI management.

A very interesting travelogue with apt pictures. Ivan refreshed my memories of my adolescent days in the area he traveled and of nearly all activities he engaged in. The difference is he did that as leisure and pleasure; I did that out of compulsion of finding my next meal. Times have surely changed for the better for my village its folks.

I am sure, the land is now ready to receive tourists from amongst nature lovers.

Corruption is our way of life. Did anyone of us go through our lives without paying a bribe? The anti-corruption institution like Lok Ayukta is toothless. Even the Central Vigilance Commissioner (CVC) is silenced these days.

I am waiting for an alien (ET?) to invade us and reform us.

Finally, the Establishment of Catholic Church in Kodial has spoken and sided with Gregory Patrao. Patrao has fought legal battles for decades and lost even at the Apex Court. He has drawn popular and political support through his struggling period. He has also drawn flak from those who view development has a price and it must be paid (always by others, not self!).

When the Global Investor Meet recently announced the 40K crores of investment, our media applauded. I submitted my dissenting opinion to some of them. My views were not published possibly because editors found them to be contrary to the popular mood.

I hope this Church supported agitation is not branded as communal. I hope it does not polarize our citizens and label the Catholics as anti-national. Especially as Fr. Onil is involved.

Mr Yediyurappa is man of double tongues. he speaks one thing and does opposite to it. Such a bad CM I have never seen in my 55 years of life since I was able to read. He has done irrepairable damage to the state and squandered away peoples money and denied developments saying no grants from Centre. What he speaks only what he dreams and it is not reality. The developments he speaks could be traced using torch light during day time. Instead wastage of money could be measured which figures he pronounces from house top.
Atleast God must initate action agaisnt the stupid as Ram acted against Ravana; or Krishna helped Arjuna to conquer kauravas. Government should make an example of them. If they are guilty, then they should be sterilized, as today they have killed their sisters tomorrow they might even kill their daughters. Making an example of them will send a chilling warning to the society and bring an end to this evil.

Nice article by Dr. Judith Lobo, which gives all the details of dates. The date is one of the most nourishing fruits. It is a food of great importance and is called the bread of the desert. But its use is now universal. It is included in the categories of both dry and fresh fruit.

No political party in India is serious and sincere about rooting out the corruption as the root cause and originators of the corruption is they themselves. I congratulate Mr.Hegde for the great work done and catching so many corrupt cases.

Ashok Kumar, Mumbai

BJP is a national party and it can not afford to be cannibalized by partnerships with small parties. Such partnerships are only tactical in nature. Strategic decisions are made not on the basis of winning or losing one election. They are made with a view on the long term growth of organization. So long as there is a common ground, the partnership can thrive. But the moment one of the sides thinks that it can dictate terms on the other, these partnerships are better broken.

This is the only power given in our legislature but, still so many obstacles from politicians. Govt has to give full power to the institutions like this then only corruption can be controlled. Lokayuktha is in state level, I dont know our ministers sitting in parliament heard about Lokayuktha, in central level.

Well done Sir, there is no point in continuing with such a body. I have always wondered why we even have one such body. In a country led by corrupt politicians and in a state which is one of the most corrupt state in the country your efforts have absolutely no value. Every time I see the news about your raids, I only use to pity you! Be it the current BJP government or the Congress or the Gowdas, Karnataka has been and will be as corrupt as it has always been.
