Udupi, 21 Jul 2022: Renowned writer, Reviewer, Social activist, great thinker, former president of Udupi district Karnataka Komu Sahardha Vedike G. Rajashekar (75) died due to illness at private hospital here on Wednesday, July 20.
He was suffering from a rare disease called Progressive Supra Nuclear Palsy (Parkinson Plus) since 2019 and was admitted to the hospital due to lung problem. He was in critical condition in ICU and succumbed to disease.
He was forefront fighter to safeguard against any atrocities on minorities, Dalits and the poor people since three decades. He refused the Karnataka Sahitya Academy Award in 2015 citing continuing atmosphere of intolerance with state and country. He was against the untruth in political scenario of the state and the country. Very straight forward person was the voice of dalits and other downtrodden society.
G. Rajashekar based from Gudmi near Sasthan was born in Baikady near Brahmavar on April 4, 1946. After his primary education at Baikady, Manipal, he was secured degree from MGM College. Worked as a teacher at Sode Mutt Innanje School, near Shankerpura, he worked as tutor at MGM College. After his brother’s death, he joined in LIC. He had written several award winning books.
G. Rajashekar is survived by wife, two sons and scores of his friends. As per his family sources, his final rites will be held on the morning of Thursday, July 21.
