Vimala V.Pai Vishwa Konkani Jeevan Siddi Puraskar Awardee Dr Tanaji Halarnkar no more

Mangaluru, 19 Oct 2020: Dr Tanaji Halarnkar, a philosopher and guide in Konkani movement from Goa passed away on October 19, morning at his residence in Alto, Panaji, Goa.

 

 

In a press statement Basti Vaman Shenoy has stated, “Since our 1st Vishwa Konkani Sammelan days in the years 1994 and 1995 and the construction of Vishwa Konkani Kendra building thereafter, he was a great strength and a benevolent host for us in Goa. And he had helped us to collect Funds from our wellwishers”.

 

He was the President of Konkani Adhiveshan held in Kozhikode (Calicut) 2002 and we had jointly taken a good number of Konkani projects for the development of Konkani Literature and Konkani Cultural Activities. He has edited the Vishwa Konkani Parichaya Kosh Part -1 and Part -2 published by our Vishwa Konkani Kendra Sahitya Academy. And he also got the prestigious Smt. Vimala V.Pai Jeevan Siddi Puraskar. (Lifetime Achievement Award 2017).
