Mangaluru, 17 Feb: Karnataka state administration is promoting Sant Sevalal Jayanti, patron of Banjara (Lambani) community, in recognition of Sant’s teachings and social reforms, said Mangaluru TP president Mohammed Monu.
Monu was speaking after inaugurating Sant Sevalal Jayanti programme that was organized by Sevalal Banjara (Lambani) Sangh®, in collaboration with district administration, Kannada and culture department held at Karnataka state Government Employees Association auditorium, here on Saturday, February 15.
Banjara brethrens were predominantly daily wagers who pursued higher education to become government employees, ministers and surging in every sphere, said Monu. Meanwhile, he advised the community to shun inferiority complex to excel in all spheres of society.
In his keynote address, Kemral gram Panchayat Development officer (PDO) said that Banjara culture is one amongst ancient Indian culture; Sant Sevalal was born into our sacred homeland who strived to reform Banjara community of all superstitious beliefs and torchbearer for the community.
Sevalal Banjara (Lambani) Sangh® president Dr A T Ramachandra Naik, DK district Kannada Sahitya Parishat president Pradeep Kalkura were present at the dais.
Kannada and culture department assistant director Rajesh G welcomed the gathering.
