Mangaluru, 12 Feb: The department officials had to be humane in getting justice to the people relaxing the framework of laws, said National Women Commission member Shyamala Kunder.
Shyamala was speaking district level monthly meeting of SC/ST that was organized by law enforcement agencies, here on Tuesday, February 11.
Shyamala also said, ‘Laws are meant for our protection that got to be utilised to solve any issues of common people. Women feared to go to police station long ago that has changed now with more women approach when they are faced with injustices. It’s the clear example of women empowerment,’ said Shyamala.
She urged the law enforcement agencies to address the issues of common people.
SC/ST leaders expressed displeasure over the absence of department officials at the meeting and also oppressions by law enforcement agencies on Dalits. They urged advised DK district Deputy Commissioner to convene a meeting in this regard.
SP Laxmiprasad presided the programme and listened to the grievances of SC/ST community and assured them that a meeting will be convened along with Deputy Commissioner to address their issues at the earliest.
