Mangaluru, 23 Aug: DK Milk Producers Union Limited (DKMUL) has earned net profit of Rs 6.9 crore out of total turnover of Rs 815.66 crore during 2018-19, said DKMUL chairman Raviraj Hegde.
Addressing media persons during press meet held at DKMUL office, Kulshekar, here on Thursday, August 22, Hegde said, ‘DKMUL has 722 milk producer’s co-op societies including 198 women milk producers co-op societies. It has pooled 4.37 lac liters of milk every day. Its daily sale is 3,39,406 liters of milk and 56,776 kgs of yoghurt. DKMUL ranks first in Karnataka among 14 co-op milk producers unions, by selling 94% of its milk locally.
It has paid Rs 31.53 per liter of milk and 0.57 per liter for improving yield to dairy farmers in past year, thereby it has maintained its first slot in Karnataka by paying Rs 32.20 per liter to dairy farmers.
It has processed 31.77 lac liters of milk and packed in flexi-packs under Trupti brnd and sold in Karnataka, Kerala and Maharashtra. As per the instructions of KMF, it has processed milk supplied by Mandya Milk Producers Union Limited and packed under Vijaya Vajra brand; sold in Andhra Pradesh.
It has set up new dairy at a cost of Rs 8739.23 lac at Uppoor in Udupi district ahead of schedule. Further new veterinary clinics were set up at Byndoor, Kadaba and Mangaluru. Twenty-two BMC societies are also formed.
A new CPP bottling plant with a capacity of 35,000 bottles was set up at Mangaluru at a cost of Rs 1.62 crore. Cash prizes of Rs 13.40 lac were given away to 688 dealers to encourage them to achieve sales targets.
DKMUL awarded Rs 102.44 lac as compensation to dairy farmers in event of nature’s fury, accidents and illness through farmers’ welfare Trust and Rs 4.84 lac to talented students and athletes who are children of dairy farmers.
DKMUL has set a sales target of Rs 911 crore during 2019-20 and there are plans to establish new cold storage facility at Puttur at a cost of Rs 12 crore and to construct a building block to hold camps for dairy farmers at a cost of Rs 4 crore. It’s proposed to earmark Rs 2.50 crore for automation at Mangaluru Dairy, besides, to release Peda packs of Rs 10, Burfi pack and Paneer in 100 grams and 500 grams.
