Mangaluru, 26 Apr: The wellness of mind and body leads to healthy society, said DK district session judge Kadlur Satyanarayana Acharya.
Acharya was speaking after inaugurating total health checkup camp of prison inmates of district jail, here on Sunday, April 21. It was jointly organized by IRCS – DK district unit, district prison, district Wenlock Hospital and district health department in collaboration with K S Hegde Medical Academy, Deralakatte, here.
Acharya also said, ‘Inmates ought to have mental agility and physically fit, in order to lead normal life in the society once they are set free. Of late, the prisons have become reformation centers for the inmates in order to realize their mistakes and try to reform themselves.’
DK district IRCS chairman chartered accountant Shantaram Shetty said, ‘We take care of health of inmates with the objective that they reform themselves and try to come to the mainstream of society.’ He also assured to make provide potable water facility at the jail.
District health officer Dr Ramakrishna Rao, Nitte (deemed to be University) vice-chancellor and districtIRCS health and first-aid Committee chairman Dr Satheesh Bhandary, natural disasters management Committee chairman Yatish Baikampady, PR Committee chairman B Ravindra Shetty were present.
