Mangaluru, 23 Nov: Dakshina Kannada district DC Sasikant Sentil inaugurated Run for Fish Marathon that was organized as part of World Fisheries Day and golden jubilee celebration by Fisheries College, Mangaluru, themed, Fish for good health and prosperity, here, on Friday, November 23 morning.
In his inaugural address, DC Sasikant laid emphasis on the role of youth in nation building. He also lauded the contributions of Fisheries College in Mangaluru that was the first to establish in the country.
In his presidential address, the College dean Professor H Shivanandamurti said that the objective of Marathon was to conserve fisheries, nutrients of fish and fisheries and create awareness among the people in this regard.
The event organizer Professor H N Anjaneyappa welcomed the gathering. The associate Professor Dr A T Ramachandra Naik compered the programme.
Over 300 people including Fisheries College students, teaching and non-teaching staff participated in 7 kilometers run from Nehru Maidan to Fisheries College, here.
The prizes were distributed to winners of each category.
