Udupi, 08 Jul 2018: Incessant rains continued to cause havoc in across Udupi district. A pregnant woman was rescued from a house flooded at Kallapu on NH 66.
A family was living in a rented house that was surrounded by flood. The fire brigade personnel and local police have taken them to safety.
It’s owing to torrential rains that have been lashing since 2 days in across district, Swarna River is over flowing. Baje vented dam has been submerged owing to torrential rains in both Udupi and Karkala.
Udupi recorded maximum rain fall of 165 mm, while it’s creating records in the recent years.
Over 70 people were rescued who were stranded in Kola and Kodankoor, by ferrying them in boats.
The traffic on NH 66 was disrupted owing to flood at Padubidri, near here. The state meteorology department forecasted further rains across Karnataka coast. Fishermen are advised not to venture into sea.
