Bantwal, 07 Apr 2018: Sports is essential for the integral growth of students that should get its due significance as that of main studies. The parents of students, teachers got to take earnest interest in identifying the sports talent and nurture them, said Bantwal block education officer Shivaprakash.
Shivaprakash was speaking during inaugural of 7-day Sports Talent Exploration camp that was hosted by upgraded Government Higher Primary School of Anantady, near here, on Friday, April 6. It was organized in association with office of block education office, Bantwal taluk physical instructors Association, sports and youth services department and Bantwal Rotary Club.
India is in forefront in all fields, but is not successful in sports. The need of the hour is to identify sports talent in primary stage to mould them to be successful sports achiever. Bantwal taluk has 146 physical education teachers, besides the talented students will be coached by national and state level coaches, said Shivaprakash.
Bantwal Club designated president Manjunat Acharya said the 7-day sports camp will boost the rural talent to make their mark in both national and international arena.
Anantady Government Higher Primary School betterment Committee president Satish Poojary said that the philanthropists of Anantady consented to organize the camp at the school to mark its centenary celebration.
The social activist Kiran Hegde, youth and sports taluk officer Naveen P S, taluk physical education superintendent Ratnavati, taluk Government employees Association president Umanath Rai, block co-ordinating officer Rajesh and others were present.
Taluk physical education teachers Association president Jagdish welcomed the gathering. The headmaster Dodda Kempayya proposed vote of thanks. Siddiq compered the programme.
