Bantwal, 16 May 2017: It’s for the first time in Dakshina Kannada district women have come forward to build a vented dam under NAREGA scheme. Karnataka is proud of women from Naringala village for their major feat, said ZP CEO Dr M R Ravi.
Dr Ravi was speaking after laying the foundation for building a vented dam by the women members of self-help-groups at Nettilakodi, in the limits of Naringana gram panchayat, near here, under NAREGA, on Friday, May 12.
Dr Ravi appealed the women to set an example to the society by building the vented dam as they meticulously do their household chores.
ZP member Mamata Gatti said Naringana gram panchayat set an example in DK district by building 5 vented dams already under NAREGA. The new dam will be built to store the rain water in order to charge aquifers for irrigation and drinking water purposes.
Bantwal TP president Chandrahas Karkera presided the programme.
