Yakshagana team returns home from American tour

Mangalore: Patlaguthu Satish Shetty, the founder of Yakshadhruva Patla Foundation, who had taken a trip to America, returned to the motherland with his team on Tuesday night and was welcomed by the office bearers of the trust at the Bajpe Airport.
A team of 9 members under the leadership of Patla Satish Shetty has returned to the motherland after 75 days of performing Yakshagana in different places in America.
On this occasion, he shared the story of his American trip with the media representatives, "I feel proud to have participated in the performance and workshop of Yakshagana, which is the art of Gandumetti of Tulunad, abroad. It is a matter of happiness that the people there have also shown interest in learning Yakshagana dance and Bhagavathike," he said.
"The Mayor has declared Patla Foundation Day in two American cities. It was an unforgettable experience. Today our art is getting worldwide recognition. Patla Foundation Trust America Unit President Dr. Aravinda Upadhyay, Dr. Thanks to Sridhara Alva, Mahabala Shetty, Uli Yogendra Bhat and other prominent people, Yakshagana performances were organized in 20 states of America.
Prof. M.L. Samaga said, "The love shown by the people of America for our Yakshagana team is unforgettable. Not less than 500 people attended each show. As the artistes in our team were limited, we had to play the appropriate episode. Some came forward saying they would pretend and some came forward to learn participation.
