Mangaluru: Disaster Management Units to be formed in all taluks of DK - DC

Mangaluru, 24 Jan: In order to effectively manage natural calamities Disaster Management units will be set up in every taluk in DK district led by respective Tahsildars, said DC Sindhu B Rupesh.

 

DC Sindhu was addressing the officials of different departments during meeting of district Disaster Management Authority held at district headquarters, here on Thursday, January 23.

 

 

Sindhu advised the officials of taluk disaster management unit to organize mock drill on rescue operations during floods, educate the school children on safety procedures, setting up shelters and healthcare, to place emergency tool kit in the officials automobiles that are essential in the event of natural calamities.

 

She further instructed to buy additional boats meant for fire brigade and home guards; since there were not enough boats during the last monsoon.

 

ADC M J Roopa, SP Laxmiprasad, assistant commissioner Madan Mohan, district disaster management officer Vijay Kumar and officials from different departments were present.
