Mangaluru, 04 Dec: The disability should not deter the challenges for the differently-abled individuals, appealed DK Deputy Commissioner Sindhu B Roopesh.
Sindhu was speaking after inaugurating World Disability Day that was jointly organized by district administration, ZP, women and child welfare department, physically challenged and senior citizens empowerment department, district legal services Authority, Lions Club – Gandhi Nagar and NGOs, at Town Hall, here on Tuesday, December 3.
The society should be empathetic to physically challenged who are capable of achieving the extraordinary in life, added DC.
In his presidential address, Mangaluru south MLA Vedavyas Kamat said many social welfare organizations are striving for the welfare of physically challenged. He also assured to get state funds for their welfare.
The winners of sports competitions that were organized by BRW and MRW were awarded prizes.
The supportive apparatus were distributed to selected physically challenged individuals.
ZP president Meenakshi Shantigodu, vice president Kasturi Panja, ZP member Mamata Gatti, Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy president Dayanand Kattalsar, physically disabled empowerment officer Yamuna D, heads of NGOs were present.
