Ground report differs with department works – alleges ZP president Meenakshi

Mangaluru, 23 Nov: The department officers had to provide proper information as they are supposed to be responsible for the job that they are assigned. They are misleading the district administration by showing some of the works that are in fact incomplete but fully executed in files, said DK ZP president Meenakshi Shantigodu.

 

Meenakshi was speaking during the meeting of district level water and sanitation committee, held at ZP Netravati Auditorium, here on Friday, November 22.

 

The discussions on installing solid and liquid waste treatment plants in villages at the limits of Kandavara, Gurpura, Paduperara and Ganjimut in Mangaluru taluk ensued.

 

 

As per the report, it was stated that there are 901 household families with or without door numbers that have no toilets, in the above mentioned gram panchayats. However, in fact it is 728 household families that have door numbers and 173 families that have no door numbers, said Meenakshi.

 

ZP vice president Kasturi Panja further said that there are many household families without door numbers have no toilets in Yekkar gram panchayat; while the files maintained by officials mentioned none such anomalies are reported.

 

Meanwhile, ZP CEO Dr Selvamani instructed the social justice steering committee to clarify the issue with ground report at the earliest.

 

TP CEO said that under public toilets scheme, the department has target of achieving 50 units in Bantwal, Beltangady, Mangaluru, Puttur and Sullia taluks under DK district during 2018-19; while 39 units are already completed and 11 are in progress. Moreover, the district administration has a target to build 71 toilets during 2019-20 in these taluks, said TP CEO.

 

Meanwhile, under drinking water project – a target has been set for 513 units during 2019-20; out of which 224 are already completed.  The estimated cost will be Rs 13353.48 lac, its learned as per the report.

 

ZP CEO Dr Selvamani advised the officials to provide the work plan covering next 6 months that what kind of works will be executed in different gram panchayat by November 30.
