Puttur, 27 Jun: Provincial joint convener of the pro-hindutva Bajrang Dal Muralikrishna Hasantadka has demanded that the people in the district who are engaging in illegal transportation of cows to slaughterhouses and thereby disrupting peace should be exiled. He also warned that hindutva groups will give a befitting response if the police continue to hoist false cases against activists of the organizations.

Speaking at a press meet Wednesday June 26, he said that illegal transportation of cows is occurring unabated from Byndoor to Sampaje and again from Charmadi to Thokkottu and pointed out that several illegal slaughterhouses have been operating at various places.

Accusing officials of restraining from carrying out their duties, he claimed that false cases were instead being booked against workers of the hindutva groups who are involved with cow protection with the single aim of taming them.

“Our constitution mentions about the need to protect cows. Hindu activists have been working in tune with this aim. We have no objection if the police show the reason for arrest as obstruction of cattle transportation. But we cannot approve if the police register false cases of robbery,” he said and warned the police to act in this direction before the anger of Hindu community overflows.

He further charged Badiadka police in Kasaragod of registering robbery case against Hindu leader, Akshay Rajput and three others who he claimed to have made an effort to protect cows by intercepting the vehicle and handing over the cattle to the police. He demanded that the cases be withdrawn.

He claimed that the bandh and stone pelting incidents was a result of people’s anger and not a call given by his Hindu organization. He opinioned that the victory celebration in the case of cattle released by the court and registering false case of robbery against activists of Hindu organizations from Vittal who stopped illegal cattle trafficking might have turned the people angry. He claimed that his organization is not responsible for these incidents and claimed that the hindutva groups will give a call for bandh if need be.
