Minister Khader advises health officials to be on alert after Nipah virus detected in Kerala

Mangaluru, 11 Jun: Dakshina Kannada district-in-charge minister U T Khader here on Monday, June 10 instructed health officials to take precautionary measures after Nipah virus was detected in neighboring Kerala.
He advised the officials to sensitize people on the symptoms of Nipah cases and urge the people who get any fever approach primary health centers in their localities. Its wild animals or birds infected disease. Therefore, any fruits that are bought from vendor ought to be thoroughly cleaned with water before consuming. No water should be stored in rural villages that are frequented by baits. One should keep away from the pet animals such as dogs and cats, pigs, if he/she is affected by Nipah virus. The health assistants had to use glouses and face masks while treating the victims.
DC Sasikant Sentil appealed the health officials to follow response protocol as directed by concerned department in case if they come across such cases.
