Udupi: Kar former minister Pramod Madwaraj to take local sand mining issue with admin

Udupi, 27 Dec: Karnataka former minister Pramod Madwaraj met Deputy Commissioner Priyanka Mary Francis, here, on Wednesday, December 26, to urge the state administration in order to honor the permits that were issued to traditional sand mining during his term and also to consider Dalits who are engaged in traditional mining whilst issuing new permits.
He advised the district administration to continue his legacy that is the natural resource of sand mined in Udupi meant for the sole purpose of use in Udupi district itself; whereby people get sand for reasonable rate.
Madwaraj also said that he would meet state mining minister Rajashekar Patil, to clear the chaos in sand mining and CRZ issue. Besides, he would urge the minister to introduce separate mining for coastal district.
The office bearers of Sand Mining Workers Association, Dalit leaders were present.
