Beltangady, 07 Dec: The children should be taught to do any work diligently religiously, in order to learn the lessons of self reliant living, said Vijaya Sankeshwara, chairman and managing director of VRL Group, Hubballi.
Sankeshwara was speaking after inaugurating 86th Sahitya Sammelan that was held at Dharmasthala, near here, on Thursday, December 6, as part of Lakshadeepotsav.
He lauded the yeomen service Dharmadhikari Veerendra Heggade in uplifting the rural masses. He said, ‘Lending and recovery of loans is indeed a difficult task.’ He expressed concern over misuse of state funds. He expressed happiness that Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project (SKDRDP) has been successful in 99.8 percent loan recovery advanced to rural masses to lead self sufficient living.
In his preliminary address, Veerendra Heggade said, ‘There is correlation between religion, science and literature. Literature aims at happiness to mankind. Indian literature has significance to religion and sacrifice.
Ramayana and Mahabharata have inspired literature, likewise, religion used literature as a media to spread faith. The poets, litterateurs, psalmists were successful in reaching the philosophies of religion to the common man.
Science also creates curiosity and complexities among the people. It’s evident among the educated. It should shun blind belief and superstition. The knowledge should thrive along with literature,’ said Heggade.
In his presidential address, the renowned critic from Sagar Professor T P Ashok said, ‘The life experiences are the essence of literature that cannot be borrowed from others. Literature gives scope for developing ones inner spirit. It would also help one to live purity of heart,’ he said.
