Bantwal, 16 Jun 2018: The former forests and DK district-in-charge minister Ramanath Rai paid a visit to Sri Rajarajeshwari temple, Polali, here, on Friday, June 15, to offer special prayers in order to clear propaganda created by vested interests over the huge tree that was donated to the temple.

Addressing the media persons, minister Rai who was saddened over the incident, said that he prayed the goddess to enlighten the vested interests and let the truth prevail. He said, ‘I have co-operated in every stage when Billava community decided to donate the huge tree, in my capacity as forest minister, a devotee and chairman of reconstruction Committee. The propaganda over this issue is unjustified,’ said Rai.

The huge tree that was needed for the temple was identified by Subramanya temple trustee Mahesh and a certain community deposited Rs 21 lac as surety as per forest rules. However, after measuring the cubic feet of tree by the department, Rs 10,29,000 was refunded to them. Despite the fact, the vested interests have mislead the people over the issue, said Rai.

The temple managing trustee Ammunjeguttu Dr Manjayya Shetty, trustees Ulipady Taranat Alva and P Madhav Bhat, reconstruction Committee members Arun Alva Ulipadiguttu, D Chandrashekar Bhandary, ZP member Chandraprakash Shetty, Padmashekar Jain, Manjula Madhav Mave and others were present.

Winning election is not so important. I have come to my trusted goddess to let the people know the truth and not listen to propaganda.

- B Ramanath Rai, former minister
