Mangaluru: DC instructs electioneering officers to monitor bank dealings & Hawala

Mangaluru, 18 Apr 2018: As the assembly elections are nearing, DK district deputy commissioner Dr Sasikant Sentil advised electioneering officers to keep tab on transactions of all banks in the district.
DC Dr Sasikant was addressing the meeting of expenditures monitors who are appointed by Electioneering Commission, held at DC’s chamber, here, on Tuesday, April 17.
All banks had to report about major transactions involving huge money in their branches daily across the district. The erring banks will be shut down, said DC.
The transactions in co-operative banks/societies will have to be monitored along with illegal Hawala dealings. The revenue department has to inspect the goods in transit, added DC.
A group will be formed with officials from income tax, customs, banks and police department to monitor financial dealings ahead of assembly elections, he stressed.
The expenses monitors’ appointed by Electioneering Commission of India – S Anil Kumar, Vinod Sharma, Sham Manohar Singh and Amit Kumar Singhal reviewed the ongoing preparations for assembly elections.
