Mangaluru: Civic body lays emphasis on rejuvenating water sources to offset scarcity

Mangaluru, 18 Feb 2018: MLA J R Lobo viewed the ongoing rejuvenation works of Bairadykere, a lake at Padil, here, on Saturday, February 17.

 

 

Its one of the lake that sustained the irrigation and drinking water needs of people for centuries, that is now in disused state. It’s being rejuvenated at a cost of Rs 80 lac by minor irrigation department and Rs 2.20 crore by MUDA. The laying of barrier wall is in progress. A park with walking track and lights will be developed in the vicinity of lake.

 

The corporator Prakash B Salian, Land Tribunal member Denis D’Silva, KSRTC director T K Sudhir, Ramanand Poojary, Krutin Kumar, minor irrigation engineer Shesha Krishna and others were present.
