Sringeri Mutt, Kotekar celebrates Shankara Jayanti Utsav

Mangaluru, 29 Apr 2017: Shankara Jayanti celebrations indeed strengthens the bond among the different communities in society that would further boost the connectivity of Sringeri mutt, said Anant Naik, president of Udupi district Maratha Samaja Seva Sangha.
Anant was speaking after inaugurating Shankara Jayanti Utsav – 2017 that was organized by Sringeri Shankara Mutt, Kotekar, here, on Thursday, April 28.
Shankara Bhagavatpadacharya had set up Peeta across greater India to sustain religion and revived Vedic practices that was threatened to go extinct. The celebrations that are held now plays key role in uniting all community brethrens, said Anant.
Eshwar Bhat of Kendriya Vidyalaya in his special lecture elaborated on the Vedic celebrations that was not the domain of any one community but emerged so because of the onslaught of other religious such as Jainism and Buddhism.
M R Vasudev, retired director of Mangaluru International Airport presided the programme.
Nityanand Padre, retired senior sub-editor of Udayavani, Kannada daily; Sanjeev Rao Scindhia, former president of Marata Samaj of Kasargod; district religious Parishat member P Krishna Gatti Someshwar; Venkataramana B P, president of Kasargod district Rama Kshatriya Sangh – Kotekar were the chief guests of the occasion.
Shankara Seva Pratistan president Satyashankar Bollava welcomed the gathering. Sainat Malligemadu proposed vote of thanks.
Carnatic musical concert was held as part of cultural show.
