MANGALORE: IPS officer Seemant Kumar Singh, who served as Dakshina Kannada’s 121st Superintendent of Police between December 2000 and February 2004, is set to take over as the Police Commissioner of Mangalore by replacing Gopal B. Hosur.

Confirming this, Director-General and Inspector-General of Police Ajai Kumar Singh told The Hindu on Wednesday that the date on which Mr. Seemant Kumar Singh would take over had not been fixed and that it was a “matter of procedure”.

According to sources, Mr. Hosur would continue as the Inspector-General of Police (Western Range) and head of the Anti-Naxal Force. Mr. Seemant Kumar Singh is also expected to take the temporary charge as the district Superintendent of Police. At present, Additional Superintendent of Police R. Mr. Seemant Kumar Singh (40) is a native of Ranchi, Jharkhand.

His last posting was as the Superintendent of Police for Bellary district.
