Speaker suspends 27 Congress MPs for five days

 

Aug 03, 2015, PTI/Agencies: Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan suspended 27 members of the Congress on Monday for five days for disrupting the Parliament.

 

She also adjourned the House for the day.

 

The Congress has been continuously disrupting both the houses since the monsoon session of Parliament began on July 21.

 

Mahajan had earlier warned Congress MPs not to carry placards and wear black bands in protest to the House.

 

An all-party meeting called by the Narendra Modi government on Monday morning failed to break the parliamentary logjam.

 

While the Congress insisted on its demand for the resignations of Sushma Swaraj and chief ministers of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, BJP refused to yield.
