Karkal, Apr 9, 2014 : The education is not mere studying the curriculum. The non-curricular activities indeed give an opportunity to exhibit the inherent talent of students. Yakshagana help the students to grow in moral values, learn and to become amateur artistes, said Belman zonal education co-ordinator Jayanti Shetty.
Jayanti was speaking during the valedictory function of students’ Yakshagana training programme that was held under Yaksha Shikshana Abhiyan of Yakshaloka – Nandalike, at St Joseph’s School, Belman, near here on Tuesday April 8.
The block resource person Vasant M said that Yakshagana is the heroic art of coastal district. It provides entertainment and relieves pressure in the students. It also helps to improve the pronunciation and memory, said Vasant.
The renowned entrepreneur S K Salian and Belman Co-operative Bank former president Govind Bhat felicitated Yakshagana coach Satish Madivala Karkal, who trained the students in Yakshagana.
Srirama Darshana, Yakshagana play based on the mythological episode was presented by the students who have undergone training on the occasion. Nagaraj Upadhya Nakre, Anand Gudigar Kervase, Vikas Kumar Yennehole and Suraj B were the instrumentalists supported in presenting the show.
Rotary Club Interntional – Belman president Suryakant Shetty welcomed the gathering. Yaksha Shikshana Abhiyan secretary Sudhakar Acharya delivered the introductory address. Pundalika Marate compered the programme. JCI – Belman president Sarvajna Tantri proposed vote of thanks.
