Udupi, 01 May 2013: The waves in favour of JDS are felt in the Kaup legislative assembly constituency; and will witness direct fight between JDS and BJP. Congress has to be satisfied with third place, said former minister and JDS candidate Vasanat V Salian.
Addressing the media persons after the election campaign in the localities of Shirva, near here on Tuesday April 30, Vasant said that he had worked for the integral development of Kaup legislative constituency, by strengthening Congress in grass-root level,
contesting assembly elections 7 times, winning 5 times and becoming minister for 2 terms. Despite he was defeated twice; he did not rest instead served the people regardless of caste, creed and religion. In spite of this, the state and union leaders of Congress party cheated him without giving party ticket to contest in the upcoming assembly elections, said Vasant.
‘I have joined JDS on the request of party activists. JDS will open its account for the first time in Kaup constituency. JDS will win majority of seats and H D Kumaraswamy will become CM again and I will get ministerial berth to open a new era of development in Kaup,’ hoped Vasant. ‘If I will the assembly elections, the water woes of rural villages, unemployment of youth, development of coastal district will be the top priorities,’ said Vasant.
JDS physically handicapped district unit president Wilfred Gomes, JDS local leaders William D’Souza, Khalid Ahmed, Flavia D’Souza, Padoor Sadanand Shetty, Antony Lobo and others were present at the occasion.
