Udupi,17 Mar 2013: The communal organizations staged bandh in Kaup near here on Saturday March 16, urging the police force to arrest all the youth accused in seriously assaulting a few youngsters from majority community by a few youth of minority community a few days ago. The minority community youth were accused of serious assault on minority community youth who were travelling in a bus along with girls of minority community.
The shopkeepers voluntarily drew the shutters of their shops at Kaup town hee on Saturday in support of communal organizations.
Addressing the protesters, the communal outfits leader Kutyar Naveen Shetty said that despite the incident has taken place on Wednesday March 13, the police have arrested only 4 accused and not taken interest in arresting others. He cautioned that massive protests will be held if the police take longer to arrest the accused.
ZP members Arun Shetty Padoor and Geethanjali Suvarna, Hindu Yuva Sene district president Suprasad Shetty, BJP district youth president Vilas Nayak, Prakash Shetty Padebettu, Kutyar Naveen Shetty and others led the protest.
Kaup sub-inspector Archana, Shirva sub-inspector S R Naik, police officer Mahadev Shetty, Brahmavar sub –inspector Girish, Karkal circle inspector Valentine D’Souza and hundreds of policemen were present at the occasion.
