Moodubelle, 02 September 2012: The Guddhali Pooje to widen and improve the road from the Lions Seva Bhavan to Ganapana Katte under NABARD Rural Infrastructural Development Fund-16 programme was conducted on Sunday, September 2, 2012 at 10 am near Babbaryakere.
The Guddhali Pooje was conducted by Subbha Bhat and the project was inaugurated by Lalaji R. Mendon, MLA of Kaup Constituency.
Katapadi Shankar Poojary, Presdient of the Udupi Zilla Panchayat, Devdas Hebbar, President of the Udupi Taluk Panchayat, Mrs. Ida Gibba D’Souza, member of the Udupi Zilla Panchayat, Gerald Fernandes, K. Vedavyasa Tantri and Uma Shankar, Assistant Executive and Assistant Engineers of PWD respectively and present and former members of the Belle Grama Panchayat were present during the occasion.
According to Assistant Executive Engineers of the PWD, K. Vedavyasa Tantri, the 2 kilometer long road will be developed at a cost of Rs.75 lacs. In this stretch of road there will be 9 culverts with one slab culvert. The road will be 3.75 meters in width and will have favre finish.
According to Devdas Hebbar who compeered the Guddhali Pooje programme, in case there is any traffic congestion in Belle township, vehicles can use this road.
K. Vedavyasa Tantri also informed this reporter that the amount for the State Highway Subraqmanya-Udupi and Mangalore-Athradi falling in Karkala and Udupi Subdivisions has been sanctioned. The estimated cost of Subramanya-Udupi Road is Rs.974.35 lacs and that of Mangalore-Athradi is 693.33 lacs making a total of Rs.1667.68 lacs. Udupi-Subramanya Road will pass through Alevooru, Moodubelle, Ninjoor, Palli and Bailur.
