Udupi,31 July 2012: When public is condemning the media for accompanying the HJV workers on assault on students at Morning Mist Stayhome, surprisingly former Congress Minister Janardhana Poojari has praised the journalist.
He said that the media people have done their duty honestly. By this they have exposed the liars so called the protectors of Hindu Culture. Those who those journalist who covered this news and showed the hooliganism of HJV workers will be awarded on the occasion of Dasara celebration of Gokarnnatheshwara Temple.
While speaking to media person in Udupi Poojari said if the journalist did not cover this incident it would have been very difficult to police to identify the culprits in this life. In this situation journalist actually helped the police to catch most of the culprits involved in this shameless incident. Even then police have registered case against them and pressurizing them. It is like murder of democracy, it is a shame he retorted.
Any bad incident happening in front of eyes bringing to the notice of the public is not only a right to freedom but also a responsibility of journalists. Due to reporting this incident live, the police could easily identify the culprits and if they had any sense of duty, they should have awarded the journalist/reporters. Instead they have registered a case against them. They have showed that they don’t have any sense of responsibility and duty, complained Poojari.
Dakishina Kannada Dist.-in-charge C.T Ravi speaking on the occasion said that no one should protect the criminals and no one should go against the enquiry and if any one come in the way of enquiry, the people of the district will not forgive them. The media has identified the offenders, let them belong to any association or organization, they will be charged with assault case and the cases against the reporters should be taken back he ordered.
