Udupi, 12 June 2012: Human rights are being violated by District Administration themselves. When the human rights committee President comes to the district to receive the complaints, it is the right of the people to give the complaints and the District Administration must make provision for this. But the DC office is located at end point, away from the city, where there is no bus facility, making it difficult for common man to come for submitting the complaint. Thus the right of the citizens to give complaint has been cut short!.
On Monday Human Rights Committee President Justice S.R. Nayak had arrived to DC Office complex to receive the complaints on human rights violation, but the complaints received were only 6. In last year when the DC Office was in Udupi about 10 – 15 complaints were being received. But the situation is that, being deprived by the human rights the general public have to hesitate to come to DC Office.
There is no bus facility to go to the DC office complex located at End Point in Manipal. People will have to come to Udupi in one bus and catch another bus to Manipal and after getting down in Manipal they will have to take a auto paying rupees 15 – 20. But the Officers moving around in air-conditioned cars are not arranging the bus facility means it is a violation of human rights.
This problem has been brought to the notice of Committee President. The discussion took place on the fact that, though the government buses are ready to operate, due to the domination of the private buses it is not becoming possible. President has instructed the officers to take appropriate action.
