Moodubelle, 09 November 2011: A union of amateur and professional Konkani poets took place in Moodubelle Parish on Sunday the 5th Nov’2011.
For various reasons it was a memorable day out for all the participants of monthly Kavi Ghosti of Kavita Trust held at Monnu Masters court yard at Moodubelle. Participants thoroughly enjoyed and cherished this rare kind of event to the parish.
Sannu Monis (Editor, Konkani section, Bellevision.com) co-ordinated whole event with the help of Raphael Master, Meera lobo, Peter Paul and the team of Suvad parish Magazine. Event started at 3 PM with the introduction about Kankani literature and poetry by Sannu Monis. Raphael Master encouraged the participants, especially Suvad writers with his in-depth knowledge on Konkani poetry, its land marks and people involved in this field. He also opined that common language and mother tongue brings affection among the people and things like poetry would result in closer friendship and unity amongst the Konkani speaking mass.
Ronald Sabi from Belle Vision spoke about Belle Vision and its support for poetry, literature, sports and so on for togetherness among Belleans and beyond with such social activities, which in return would increase our literacy skills and quality of life.
At 4PM, through welcome prayer song by parishioners under the leadership of Fr. Paul Sequira, Principal St. Lawrence college, the event started climbing towards a thrilling rhythm.
Mr. Vincent Alva of Pamboor recited welcome poetry of the session. Melwyn Rodrigus briefly spoke about the aim, mission and work being carried out by Kavita trust towards the development of Konkani poetry. He expressed his great pleasure to attend such gathering of poetry lovers. He called upon all to contribute towards the success of National level Kavita Fest to be organized on the same venue on 8th Jan 2012.
Participants were pleasantly surprised and spell bound by Kavita of Melwyn and his method of recitation and presentation.
Eight young and amateur Belle Parishioners presented their poetry, gained appreciation from the audience for the substance and presentation methods.

At the end of session, HM Pernal gave example of ‘Punya Koti Poem’ and tips of Dr. Manohar Sardesai about coconut tree and budding poet.
Veteran poets presented their creations on topics such as Dova Thembo, Kirnachi Zaap, Advarlele Fol, mobile network, Jezu Zalmallo goto, river & sea, Rasthyar Dantowso fathor… Sequeram Surathkal mesmerized the gathering through his humorous theme of fully developed mankind turned monkey again.
Vincy Pamboor, Wilson Kateel, Manu Bahrain, Melwyn Pernal, Gladis Rebello, Gracy Rebello, Melwyn Rodrigus, Joswita Mendonca, Alwyn Danthi Pernal, Rinol Rodrigus, Venkatesh Nayak, Melisha Rebello, Sikeram Surathkal, Sannu Monis, Roylin Rodrigus, Jovita DSouza and HM Pernal presented their individual poetry. Throughout the session Sannu Monis exhibited his Kavitha and Chutuka.
Johnson Miranda gave his opinion on entire Kavi Ghosti.Fr. Paul Sequira expressed his happiness and knowledge he gained through this session.
