Udupi, 17 August 2011: Students of Mahatma Gandhi Memorial College and Upendra Pai Memorial College conducted protest march on Tuesday led by the Udupi Jilla Nagarika Samithi, supporting the movement of Anna Hazare for implementing Lokpal Bill and protesting the policy of the central government on his detention.
The procession began from the MGM College. In the procession the students carried large national flag of size 21 feet long and 14 feet wide holding in their hands. A special part of this procession was the participation by a senior woman of Udupi, Saroja. Secretary of Nagarika Samithi Nithyananda Volakadu, Student Leaders; Karthik, Souraj, Swathi and others participated in the procession.
Procession passed through MGM College, Kadiyali, Kalsanka, City Bus Stand, Bannaje and finally came to Deputy Commissioner’s Office. Petition was submitted to the central government through the Deputy commissioner stating that, Anna Hazare should be released immediately and as per his demands Lokpal Bill has to be implemented.
