Mangaluru, 20 Sep 2017: A Keralite was taken into custody on Tuesday night at Mangaluru international airport after he was found carrying a suspicious electronic item. After a detailed examination of the item found and interrogation the investigators clarified that suspicious item was not an explosive as suspected earlier.
The object seized by the officers look like a power bank used for mobile charging. Unscientific manufacturing method of the item created suspicion among the security personnel in the airport and forced them to declare high alert, sources said. A bomb squad was also arrived at the airport and checked all corners of the airport to ensure the safety of the passengers.
Keralite, Kannur natives was on his way to Bengaluru to reach Middle East and his flight was delayed for almost one hour after the suspected item found with him. Earlier, intelligence bureau had warned all airports in the country to remain alert as there is possibility for a terror attack.
