Bantwal, 12 Mar 2017: At the backdrop of Deputy Commissioner’s order to AMR Power Private Limited and MRPL, not to draw water from Netravati River, to avoid shortage of drinking water to Mangaluru city, the civic body has assigned one engineer and a watchman to monitor the situation, said the newly-elected Mangaluru mayor Kavita Sanil.
Addressing the media persons after visiting Thumbay vented-dam, near here on Saturday, March 11, after assuming the office, Kavita held discussions with the officials over supplying uninterrupted drinking water to Mangaluru city.
Both Thumbay vented dam and AMR dam has stored water that is sufficient to supply drinking water to Mangaluru for 65 days. Meanwhile, the efforts are underway to supply drinking water on top priority, said mayor Kavita.
The deputy mayor Rajnish, former mayors Mahabala Marla and Harinat, chief whip Sasidar Hegde, municipal commissioner Mohammed Nazir, engineer Linge Gowda, corporator Radhakrishna and others were present.
