Mangaluru, 09 Jan 2017: Professor B A Vivek Rai, retired vice-chancellor of Hampi University and member of Pilikula Nisargadhama governing council, inaugurated ten-day handicrafts exhibition at Urban Hath, Pilikula Nisargadhama, Moodushedde, here on Saturday, January 8. It was sponsored by union ministry of textiles.
Professor Rai after inaugurating the exhibition said, ‘The artisans from all over the country get best rates for their crafts and other handicrafts at exhibitions that are sponsored by union ministry. The exhibition also fosters bond among the people of diverse cultures.’
Pilikula Regional Science Centre director Dr K V Rao, handicrafts promotion officer Kiran, officers of Pilikula Nisargadhama and others were present.
The artisans and craftsmen from Andhra Pradesh, Puducchery, Bihar, J & K, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, New Delhi, Rajastan and other stations have displayed varieties of vanity bags, ornaments, saris, sik and handloom, jute bags, wooden carvings, sculptures, footwears, terracotta, readymade dresses, shawls etc and etc.
The exhibition is open from 11.00am to 8.00pm till Sunday, January 15.
