Moodubelle, 26 Aug 2016: Three brave soldiers of Moodubelle namely Mr. Alex Almeida, Mr. Uday Pujari and Mr. Vital Nayak, who served in the Indian Army for more than 25 years were honoured during a “ Yad Karo Kurbani “ an unique programme organized on Indian Freedom Fighters on Thursday 25th August 2016 by St. Lawrence Kannada Medium School, Moodubelle.
The wonderful event began with a prayer by students and there after Ms. Leena D’Silva (HM St. Lawrence Kannada Medium School) along with SPL Miss. Sahana invited the honorable guests to the dais namely Rev. Fr. Lawrence Cutinho (Asst. Parish Priest, St. Lawrence Church), Mr. Alex Almeida, Mr. Uday Pujari and Mr. Vital Nayak. Ms. Leena D’Silva accorded a hearty Welcome to all the guests on the dais and offered them roses.
The special candle lights were set up on the banner “ Jai Hind “ were lighted by all the guests as a symbolic gesture to our brave soldiers and freedom fighter who sacrificed their life for the great Nation India. Also on the occasion a big board under the banner: Yaad Karo Kurbani “ was set up highlighting articles and pics of our great leaders and freedom fighters which were meticulously prepared by the high school students was inaugurated by Fr. Lawrence Cutinho.
Mr. Charles Quadras (Senior Clerk, St. Lawrence High School) introduced the three retired soldiers and highlighted their various achievements during their tenure as soldiers of the Indian Army. The veteran proudly displayed their medals of achievements to the students.
All the veterans were then felicitated with traditional shawls, fruit baskets and floral bouquets by Fr. Lawrence and Ms. Leena D’Silva on the occasion.
The three brave veterans addressed the students and explained how it is importance to learn basic rules of system and education and responsibly. They called upon the students to serve the nation with dignity, integrity and honesty in whatever capacity they can and join if possible any government jobs or posts such as IAS, KPC, IPC, Army, Navy or Air.
While addressing his presidential address Fr. Lawrence Cutinho appreciated the service of three brave men and explained to the students their love of the nation and service in protection of the Nation and her people.
Mr. Valerian D’Souza (PT) proposed vote of thanks and Mr. Sudheer Naik compeered the entire unique program.
A magical dance was performed by the students of high school on a Patriotic Song.
